The brainchild of Marina Cinciripini, an interior designer and kitchen lover, and Sarah Richiuso, a product designer and illustrator, I Tradizionali are illustrated tattoo-recipes which can be applied on one’s forearm. Not only does the tattoo emphasize the common gesture of “rolling-up one’s sleeves” before cooking, but it also helps the cook to remember the order in which the recipe is to be prepared.
Passing down recipes is part of every country’s traditional culture. This project steers from the traditional behavior of following cook books but, rather, it puts our bodies at the core of cooking. This idea has clearly inspired the illustrations, which are also used to demonstrate how the recipe is prepared.
The collection is divided into different thematic packages. Each of them includes 4 recipes which provide a list of the ingredients and the amount of each ingredient needed for the recipe. The packaging is color-coded to help distinguish the basics from special editions—recipes for traditional events, like Christmas or Easter, or for people on strict diets. The container is made of Crush ecologic paper, produced by Favini. This kind of paper is made using agro-industrial by-products, which replace up to 15% of virgin tree pulp.
The idea of combining recipes with the traditional tattoo-culture is what inspired the project’s name and the tattoos’ illustrations. For the first time in history, this project has added tattoos to culinary culture!
